A LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR
As more of us get the Covid vaccine, a glimmer of hope is starting to emerge. While I am skeptical about whether we are ever going to be able to return to "normal", I do believe we are heading in the right direction. In the interim, the Centers WACC and AACC are holding their own. Workflow is reasonable with some interesting projects in all departments. During this time our postgraduate fellow in the Objects lab, Sally Gunhee Kim, was singled out to receive the CAC Emerging Conservator Award. This annual award was given to Sally by the Canadian Association For Conservation of Cultural Property for her contributions to the field of conservation in both Canada and the US through her work in promoting accessibility and equity in the field of conservation.
Our 'FRiENDS' activity is in a pause mode, as I feel any virtual presentation regarding a specific treatment does not really work well. I look to the fall to determine whether we can resume scheduled 'FRiENDS' events here at the Center. As we navigate forwards, the Art Conservator publication is still our best tool for marketing. We are also focusing on how we can increase our use of social media to engage with both our members and clients.
